North-East Link

MeBUG is a member of  the Community Technical Discussion Group (CTDG) for Walking and Cycling, which is one of several community consultation forums that will have input to the project design.

The first meeting of the group was held on 10th May 2018 and was attended by about 20 people from various BUGs as well as individuals with particular interest in cycling and walking. Further meetings are planned for 26 June, 28 July, 13 September and 25 October.

Preliminary information on planned bicycle paths to be built or upgraded as part of the project was released in April 2018.

Subsequent information releases:

Details of the project generally are available in the Business Case, formally released on 27 May 2018.

A subset of members of the  CTDG have prepared a report to be included in information for bidders for the construction of NE Link, that outlines improvements and greater recognition of best practice cycling design considerations. It is to be hoped that the successful bidder(s) for the project take these ideas on board so the best possible outcome for walker and cyclists is achieved.
